Alisha Burns is the founder of Solo Mum Society, a global community supporting women who are considering, trying to conceive, pregnant, or parenting as solo mothers by choice through donor conception. After her own 12-year journey through infertility, IVF, pregnancy loss, divorce, and ultimately becoming a solo mum just weeks before her 40th birthday, Alisha built the platform she wishes had existed when she started — one that provides education, emotional support, and community from the very beginning and long after a baby arrives.

Through Solo Mum Society, Alisha provides courses, coaching, resources, and community for women at every stage of the solo motherhood journey, with support tailored specifically to the stage they are at — from making the decision, to fertility treatment and pregnancy, through to raising donor-conceived children and building a strong village around both mum and child. Her work focuses not just on helping women become mothers, but on helping them build confident, supported, and connected families.

Alisha is also the host of the No Need for Prince Charming podcast, which has released over 160 episodes featuring solo mothers, donors, donor-conceived people, and fertility experts, and she is the author of My Perfect Family, a children’s book about donor-conceived families,which was a previous finalist in the Best Fertility Book awards. Through her books, podcast, courses, international retreats, and online community, Alisha has helped thousands of women around the world navigate solo motherhood and donor conception with confidence.

She is passionate about changing the narrative around solo motherhood, supporting donor-conceived families, and helping women realise they don’t have to wait for the right partner to build the family they dream of — but they also don’t have to do it alone.
